Moroccan Culture Week in Covent Garden 2003
Posted on 14th February 2015 in WWG History
This amazing event was organised by the Moroccan National Tourist Office. Covent Garden was encircled by Moroccan tents each with a different aspect of art or culture. I was invited to take the Argan tent. Opened by the Lord Mayor and a rider on a camel it lasted six days from 10am to 10pm.
We heard beautiful spiritual music encompassing all religious aspects of Morocco, saw carpets being made, enjoyed mint tea at the Momo cafe and met many artists and crafts people.
It was an unforgettable if exhausting experience. A true compliment was that Moroccans living in London bought all the amlou I could make. Here is the letter of thanks I received afterwards.
