Wild Wood Groves FAQ

  • Is argan oil suitable for all skin types?
Argan balances natural sebum levels; therefore it is ideal for all skin types, oily, combination and dry. Hold the bottle upside down until you have 3–4 drops then warm it in your fingertips. (New dripper tops can take a few seconds to get going the first time). Argan is very light and goes a long way when used this way, making it very economical to use. In general using it twice a day all over your face, eyebrows and neck is ideal.
  • Do I need any other moisturiser?
No you do not. Argan works to neutralise free-radicals, bring the water back to the lipid layer (the membrane surrounding living cells) and improve the appearance of fine lines. For mature or extra dry skin try rose & frankincense or neroli & sandalwood argan in the morning and rescue serum at night.
  • Which one do I use for problem skin?
For psoriasis, acne, rosacea, dry eczema and chicken pox we suggest baby blend—with the addition of calming, anti-bacterial german blue chamomile and cooling lavender, it enhances the intrinsic anti-inflammatory properties of argan oil. A few drops gently rubbed in 2–3 times daily helps to cool, soothe and moisturise your skin. Do not use on broken skin or weeping areas. If you skin is ultra sensitive then use our simply argan skin care oil. For specific skin problems check out our therapy range.
  • Is it safe to use during pregnancy?
All our blends are safe in pregnancy unless otherwise stated. If you prefer not to use essential oils try simply argan to prevent stretch marks, start early and massage into your bump twice a day.
  • What is the difference between argan oils for the skin and food?
The seeds for argan food oil are lightly toasted giving a rich nutty aroma and smoky flavour. The berber communities also use this on the skin but it imparts a strong smell and lacks the subtle qualities of the essential oils. It is also a little lower in vitamin e and nutrients. Argan skincare oil is made with cold - pressed raw seeds, which means that a lot of pulp goes into the oil. This mixture is allowed to settle and the oil skimmed from the top. This gives a much lower yield than the food oil production method, which is reflected in the price. The remaining pulp, which is very rich in saponins, which soften and soothe the skin, is added to our natural soaps.
  • How long does it keep?
Argan oil actually keeps for a minimum of 2 years from production, but we put 6 months on our bottles so you will always use it in optimum condition once opened. It is perfectly safe to use well after that time. We generally produce new oil once or twice a year when stocks are low, which ensures our oil is always fresh.
  • I’m allergic to nuts. Will I be able to eat/use argan oil?
While we have no reports of allergies to argan oil please check with your doctor if you have a nut allergy, just to be safe.
  • Why cant I buy wild wood groves argan oil in my local shop?
Wild wood groves argan oil is only available in limited quantities due to our fair trade and conservation program and the small area of morocco where the trees grow. Into order to maintain the strictest quality control we only buy the highest quality fruit. For this reason our oil is only sold via this website directly.
  • I’ve heard that goats eat the argan fruit and the oil is made from goat poo?
While rumour has it that argan fruit must be processed by being passed through the gut of a goat this is not true. In fact, though this process makes the nut easier to crack, it is highly detrimental to the quality of the seeds and subsequent oil produced. These seeds and oil have a strong quite rank smell and the presence of 'goat' gastric juices greatly reduces the nutrients and keeping time of the oil. At the Wild Wood Groves production centre we use only whole fruit that we have bought ourselves that are untouched by goat! Not that we have anything against those goats and they do get to eat the fruit in the end after it has been stripped off the nut.
